Shamrock just left to finish up some last minute errands. My bed has my things for the next few days strewn across it. Family has been arriving over the past several days, with many more arriving today. We’ve had bad storms almost every day, resulting in lots of delayed flights, but all but one of our out of town guests should arrive by tonight. It’s happening.
The forecast for Saturday has been consistently pretty good, usually at 10% chance of showers…until today. We’re now at 30% chance of storms, and the storms would come between 3 and 11 if they do. FMIL Clover and her sister have been praying hard for no rain, but they also did remind us that farmers are praying FOR rain (one of their siblings won’t be able to make the wedding because its planting season), so in the event that it does rain for our wedding at least someone won. I find this both hilarious and oddly comforting.
MOH Sis flew in Tuesday night, and she and Mama Clover put together a survival kit for me:
What’s inside? Lots of fun stuff. MOH Sis has never been in a wedding (and is really not the wedding type–she asks for camp stoves and axes for Christmas) but she knows how to google. Here’s what she came up with, some MOH Sis commentary included:
- Travel bag
- First aid kit (Mom got a bigger one but they got too much stuff and then it wouldn’t fit)
- Ibuprofen (they had lots of other drugs but they ran out of room)
- Hand lotion
- Floss & floss picks
- Nail clippers
- Nail files
- Tide Pen
- Lint roller
- Sewing Kit
- Tweezers (new ones. the good kind.)
- Safety pins (stuck to a magnet)
- No slip shoe pads
- Fashion tape
- Baby powder (You’re supposed to put this between your legs. It’s important. I’m still not sure why, but several people said so.)
- Chalk (Also no idea)
- Emergency Candy (because who doesn’t like snack)
I actually had “put emergency kit together” on my list, so it was nice to get this on Wednesday!
It feels surreal that everything happens tomorrow–starts tonight, really. My bridesmaids and family are taking such good care of us, and so many people have been so nice and helpful (remember Cousin J? He’s coming to my mom’s house early, in case he needs to help. They’re trying to come up with something for him to do–I think he might be disappointed that I never had him drive into the city to do something? Adorable). BM Mathlete and her husband have been rockstars, offering to help with anything and everything, MOH Sis is at my disposal, Aunt S reviewed the reception set up to dos with me yesterday–it’s all come together. I wrapped the last of the gifts this morning (ahem, except for the one I still need to buy today!) and we’re ready to go.
Happy Wedding weekend, fellow June 21 brides! Anything else MOH Sis needs to pick up for the emergency kit? We’re right by a 24 hour Walgreens, and she takes her job very seriously.
